Salon's War Room blog is citing a
BBC story about 30 Cuban dissidents (including 4 women and 4 children) being held at Guantanamo.
Thirty Cuban dissidents are being held by US authorities at the Guantanamo Bay naval base, a Cuban exile leader says. <snip>
They were stopped by US vessels and had been held secretly for the past year - even though they had been promised passage to a third country, he said. <snip>
Mr Sanchez told the BBC that Washington had threatened to hand over the dissidents to the Cuban authorities if they talked to the press.
Why on Earth are Cuban refugees being held at Gitmo? The Miami Herald doesn't have anything on this yet. Seems like this story would be of interest to Flordia's Cuban community. I'd love to see a MoveOn or ACT ad asking why Dubya is holding Cuban dissidents at Gitmo. Maybe a story like this could help make up for Kerry's abysmal attempts to win Flordia's Cuban vote.
Too bad the only way for MoveOn members to communicate with the organization is through the clunky Great Goals forum.
