One of the things that always drives me wild is when something really infuriates/frightens me & noooobody in the media mentions it.
Here's one-- for me a gen-u-wine hot button: stealth privatization of government services. Which ties into (I think) war profiteering, outlawed interrogation methods, even voter disenfranchising (Jeb's "consultants" on the felon list, though that one's a stretch) and much more.
Who are these contractors? Abusing iraqis, feeding our troops rotten food...? Etc. When was it decided to privatize the military? And, according to Bill Moyer's NOW last night, handle many of the government's record-keeping services as well? Was it ever debated? Or was it buried/attached to other bills?
Am I the only one who finds this subject resonant?
I bet not. FWIW, I think it could work as a kind of Willie Horton, Welfare Queen buzz-eroo. It cuts to the heart of a lot of issues-- like corruption, like integrity in gov.
But I am unsure how to frame it effectively as an issue, or strategize wisely.
Can we talk about this? Any ideas?
