Welcome to my first diary entry here.
My cynicism about the power 0f 30-second spots was shaken last weekend.
I had grown to believe that political ads really didn't do much to change voters minds.
Then I talked to a man while doing a canvass for ACT who listed his number one political priority as protecting the environment, but had a very unfavorable view of John Kerry and said he might vote for Bush in November.
When I conversationally reminded him that the league of conservation voters had declared Kerry to be the most environmentally conscious member of the senate and had endorsed him even before he locked-up the nomination (something the organization has never done before) he responded that he still didn't trust the man.
"He flip-flops" he said, parroting the nonsensical accusation from the Bush ad verbatim.
Now that's scary.
