I've been uncomfortable hearing Kerry dance around the question about whether he would vote the same re: the Iraq war based upon what he knows now. I've been waiting for him to say "Hell no, I now know we were misled, there were no WMD, no involvement in 911, they were not am imminent threat." but now he says:
"Kerry stands by Iraq war voting record
GRAND CANYON, Ariz. (AP) -- Responding to President Bush's question with several of his own, Sen. John Kerry said Monday he would have voted to authorize the war in Iraq knowing what he does now, but added that he would have used the power more effectively than the current commander in chief."
So he now knows this was an unnecessary war but he would still vote the same. How does this square with his campaign pledge that he would never send American soldiers to fight an unnecessary war? Am I misssing something important here? If not, then I don't see how I can continue to actively support him and I am scheduled to work at a phone bank tonight.
