In response to Kerry's call today for the legalization of drug imports and his opposition to Bush's giveaway to drug companies, Rep Bill Thomas said the magic word:
AWOL.
As in: Representative Bill Thomas of California, the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, told reporters that Mr. Kerry [snip] "was AWOL through the entire process" of negotiating the drug plan.
Not only is this blatantly false, but it seems to me an opening for Kerry to pose a "Challenge" to Bush: to state clearly if he and the republicans respect Kerry's military service or if they will continue to attack military service throughout the campaign ...and of course if Bush thinks AWOL is an appropriate analogy ...

Times edits her writing? Why do comments on
the cost of Kerry's dinner or his pronunciation of the state's name constitute news? How much did George Bush spend last night on dinner? I'm sure he didn't mispronounce any words ...
And, for the record, she misquotes Kerry in today's piece; he did not say "Dr. Kerry is here to cure you all." He said that about a retired doctor among the attendees at the town hall meeting that he had just met...
