This doesn't seem like the forum for this, but, well, what the hell.
A friend of mine's son went was the perpetrator of a pretty gruesome crime and was killed while on the run. During the whole thing, he blamed his mother (my friend) of destroying his life, kept calling her and threatening to kill her since his life was forfeit anyway and they weren't going to take him alive (they didn't). So, it was kind of a mixed blessing the kid went down in flames, but she's still grieving the loss of her son. Mothers are like that.
Anyway, this crime has all the drama you'd ever want to see in one place at one time, and so, it was not a big surprise that a national televised "news magazine" eventually descended on my friend and wanted her to tell "her story".
Well, my friend just wants them to go away. She's living with her loss, and there's no way that she wants to go on national television and be demonized because her son was a fuck-up.
She's scared that they will publicize her name, her address and what she looks like without her consent such that other crazies would descend upon her and ruin her life, or possibly end it.
Now the crime itself is public record, but her name has been kept scrupuously out of the media. She wants it to stay that way.
Can she?
