Keith Olberman gives his apology to Michelle Malkin. Well, sort of.
"One more note on this. We at Countdown were preparing an apology for my choice of language last night after the writer Michelle Malkin went on Rush Limbaugh's radio entertainment program and wrote in her weblog that I had called her a "idiot". It was Ms. Malkin who on Hardball last night raised the accusation that John Kerry's vietnam wounds may have been self-inflicted. It's naive and old-fashioned but I feel you should reserve those terms like "idiot" exclusively for men."
"Political differences fall to our* innocence are all secondary, there are codes"
"There's also a problem. I never called her an idiot."
cut to tape of previous nights comments
"This woman, Malkin, who made a fool of herself on this network about an hour ago, basically said, in what she was reading, the book that accompanied the swiftboat ad, that Kerry... at least somebody aske whether or not Kerry should be asked, in that sort of let's step away from actually making a statement let's put it as a question about a question about a question about whether or not Kerry shot himself."
back to live
"So, that's what you're dealing with here. She's an author or a journalist or something and she misquoted the insult to herself. We're keeping track of this particular soufle on Hardblogger on msnbc.com..."
I love it. I won't stoop to calling her names, just let you revel in the commentary :)
*This was somewhat unintelligible
Editor's Note: I added the blockquotes and corrected some of the items after I published the diary. As I noted above, I pretty much was trying to post this quickly from the recording on my DVR while I was still trying to watch the rest of the program itself, so a few mistakes were made, and there may be a few more minor ones left. Feel free to correct me.
