Like all good Minnesotan's, I found myself at the State Fair this week. I went to the DFL booth specifically to find out how Patty Wetterling is doing. And more critically, to find out why she has not been more visible during the last month.
The middle-age volunteer at the DFL booth smiled at me knowingly and said, "Well, you know all about the big wedding?" Admittedly, I had no idea what she was talking about. The volunteer went on to say that Patty has been very busy helping plan her daughter's wedding and that she really didn't have time to be out campaigning in August. But now, she will really get out there!
Wetterling could ill afford to take the month of August off in her race against Kennedy. Especially after her MPR debate performance when see clearly did not have her policy answers prepared. Kennedy made her sound like a real amateur.
Her polling numbers were looking strong in July
How does the DFL let a hiatus like this happen in the middle of what should be a very tight race?
