Texas blogger Charles Kuffner features Richard Morrison over at his Texas Tuesday's site -- showcasing the state's top races. The package includes this
nice interview and this little
update in the race. Amongst the good news -- Morrison has raised sufficient money to go on the air, an amazing accomplishment for someone who was supposed to be little more than token opposition to the Big, Bad, DeLay.
But while DeLay is mired in one scandal after another, and is facing one criminal indictment after another, it's this story that most illustrates the type of man DeLay really is:
Already the focus of two major ethics investigations, Tom "The Hammer" DeLay has sunk to a new ethical low - using the Boy Scouts of America to pump up his dwindling approval rates. According to a recently circulated invitation, The Hammer will be honored by the Boy Scouts of America at a black tie reception on September 17. The confusion lies in just what award the Boy Scouts will be handing out.
The invitation first mentioned DeLay would be receiving the Spirit of the Eagle award. The Spirit of the Eagle award is, according to the Boy Scouts' website, "an honorary posthumous special recognition for a registered youth member who has lost his life in a tragic accident or through illness." Since DeLay survived his scouting days, his image consultants came up with a new award for him - the "Golden Eagle" award. The problem is the Boy Scouts of America don't have a "Golden Eagle" award.
The story was dug up from a local blogger,
