I've been making a point of talking to any Bush supporters I can find. I'm most amazed at the support amongst my few gay friends for Bush. I'm starting to wonder if support for Bush is from two camps: 1. Bush believers- their support for him is faith-based not fact-based. They support Bush uncritically and refuse to think critically about him, much like their relationship with their religion.
2. The growing ABBK group. These are the moderate Republicans who just can't bring themselves to vote for a Dem. I doubt that a different candidate would make a difference. They THINK their values are conservative, but they are really liberal (support pro-life, support some gun control, oppose empire-building, think religion should be separate, support gay rights, etc.). How do we get this group to use their brains and realize that they simply cannot support Bush? How do we move the ABBK's to ABBB's?
