During the "36 day war", I spent a week in Broward Co., cleaning out my late mother's condo in Hallandale, having left my Gore/Lieberman 2000 sign in the window at home in the Puget Sound area as a silent witness. I came to be a close follower of the news about the debacle. Not only did I sense then what a disaster GWB would become, but I was actually in the area the day of the "bourgeois riot". It made it all the more personal, suffering along with a nation in a trance. So I was intrigued...even encouraged to find the story the link for which is after the jump to light-speed, Captain.....
The link below is to a Palm Beach Post story about the recent contest in which "Madame Butterfly" seems to have been rejected by PB County voters. There is a national angle I wouldn't necessarily have expected, and I like the way it feels. Read and enjoy!

By the way, this is my first diary posting. I don't yet have the hang of all the Kossack protocols, but I would appreciate any useful feedback from Kossites actually on the ground in SE Florida (who haven't had to evacuate) as to whether the juice that booted LePore might have transferable momentum to Kerry and Castor in Nov.
