I volunteered yesterday at the Kerry campaign in Boston, MA. Most of us, including myself, were calling voters in Florida to identify supporters. Others were calling MA volunteers, urging them to go canvass in NH this coming weekend.
But they had a very cool little gimmick after I handed in my 3 completed call sheets...
You know those "Frequent diner cards" which are sometimes given out by restaurants, coffee shops, and sometimes bookstores? Each time you eat (or buy something) there you get a hole punched/stamped, and once every circle on the card has been punched/stamped, you get a freebie of some sort.
Well, the Kerry campaign is doing something similar. I got a "Frequent phoner card" with 3 of the 20 places stamped (one for each call sheet I'd done). Once they're all full, I get a prize of some sort.
They didn't say what the prize is, but I'm heading back in today to find out!
On a related note, this diary is an implicit suggestion of an easy thing you all who live in safe states can do to help Kerry in the swing states. Note how we here in Massachusetts are calling Florida! And we need more callers! So Call your local Kerry Headquarters and get on board! If you don't see a local place, call the main number; there may be a group in your area that's not on the list.
