Hi there -- been reading this blog for a while (lurked prior to the membership phase) and this is my first diary.
I've been in contact with Swing the State -- http://www.swingthestate.org -- and they are able to find me housing from approximately 9/30 through 3 November in the following 4 states:
Arizona
Colorado
New Mexico
Ohio
In whichever state I volunteer, I'll be working with a grassroots organization doing whatever is possible to help the Kerry campaign come out on top.
My question is, in the event that I can find a flight to each of those places for a less-than-exorbitant amount -- which state should I choose?
Colorado, New Mexico, and West Virginia were my top 3 picks when I asked Swing the State to help out. The Ohio and Arizona Swing State Coordinators are interested in having me, but it seems West Virginia isn't an option in terms of housing.
I've done some work in Ohio already, so that's where I'm least interested in going at this point. I've never visited any of the other states (driving through West Virginia at age 11 does not, I think, count).
I've included a poll below, but if you have an opinion -- and reasons for that opinion -- I'd love to hear from you.
FYI, I'm a New Yorker -- Brooklynite to be exact.
Obviously, I'm hoping that this is an interesting participatory thing for Kossacks and not a waste of bandwidth. Plug your state or region! Tell me about politics. Or local bars. Or....
Thanks!
