One of the problems with the Kerry campaign is that they do not know how to tend to their base. When LA Times released a poll 4 months ago that had Kerry up by 7 points, the Bush campaign released an angry denounciation noting that the poll had included a heavy oversample of Democrats. And they were right. It did. But the Kerry campaign has not released anything concerning the two most recent polls although both polls have a huge bias favoring Republicans. The Newsweek poll has 7% more Republicans than Democrats although Democrats have a 5% advantage in registration. The Time poll according to Rasmussen has a huge oversample of Republicans. He says that the poll should only have Bush ahead by 3 points.
The problem is, on the Sunday morning shows all of the talking heads will say that Bush is ahead big. And because of the horrible media, they will frame all election coverage as Bush being a the eventual winner and everything concerning Kerry will be viewed through a negative lense. Bush will get fawning coverage much like he did in the last two months 4 years ago - and Kerry will get negative coverage much like Gore did 4 years ago.
So - we must make the Kerry campaign release an angry denounciation of the polls because, like I said, they contain a huge oversample of Republicans. And if they don't, expect all of the pundits to talk about these polls without the caveat that they oversampled republicans.
I can't find a damn e-mail. Someone hook me up!
