So it seems amid the panic, that if you analyze all the polls up and down and inside out, that George W. Hoover Bush has about a 4 point lead. This will likely drift down to about two after his bump wears off. And will likely drift down to about minus two after he sticks his foot repeatedly in his mouth during the debates.
All of which means nothing. Personally I believe that John Kerry will win for one simple reason. We will all get our butts in gear and do a much better job of getting out the vote on November 2. If we all spend half as much time working to deliver the goods as we do reading blogs, GW Hoover Bush is dead meet.
I don't know where I saw it but I read a poll somewhere a few weeks back that showed the Rethugs were much more enthusiastic about Bush in 2000 than the Dems were about Gore. This poll also showed that the Rethugs were just as enthused this year as they were in 2000, while our side was way more enthusiastic about Kerry (or removing Bush) than we were four years back. Well, lets turn that into sweat.
Yes, George Bush stole the election in 2000, but he wouldn't have been able to if we'd worked as hard as they did to get out the vote. It does seem to me that we are working harder.
Personally, I did nothing but vote in 2000. This time around, I've sent money to Howard Dean, John Kerry, MoveOn, the DNC, and the Kos 8-12. I've held MoveOn meetings in my home and been to meetups. I've made phone calls for MoveOn. I've adopted a swing state for MoveOn and will be spending the last two weeks of October working in a swing state.
Please, all, get in gear. The ideas we share here are wonderful, (except for panic spreading), but we all need to speak with our feet and phones. The bad guys are in gear and we need to be as well. Adopt a swing state, move to one for a month. And if you live in Chicago, vote early and vote often.
