David Brooks [dabrooks@nytimes.com] is wrong on his idea of a terrorism death cult. In a recent oped column, 9-7, titled "Cult of Death" he writes:
"I have been forced to witness the massacre of innocents. In New York, Madrid, Moscow, Tel Aviv, Baghdad and Bali, we have seen thousands of people destroyed while going about the daily activities of life. [Of course, he doesn't mention the Israeli murders of innocents in Palestine....why? That's terrorism, too!]
We've been forced to endure the massacre of children. Whether it's teenagers outside an Israeli disco or students in Beslan, Russia, we've seen kids singled out as special targets.
We should by now have become used to the death cult that is thriving at the fringes of the Muslim world. This is the cult of people who are proud to declare, "You love life, but we love death."
....the death cult is not really about the cause it purports to serve. It's about the sheer pleasure of killing and dying.

But I think Brooks is dead wrong when he says "....the death cult is not really about the cause it purports to serve. It's about the sheer pleasure of killing and dying."
No no no no no no, Mr Brooks. These murderer-terrorists do have a cause. They are not just in it to die. Their cause is the overthrow of what they see as injustice, an injustice they largely blame on the West.
To say their death cult is not really about the causes it purports to serve is part of our Western liberal blindness!!!!!!!! These terrorists do have a cause. And they are willing to die for their cause. We must understand this in order to defeat them. Otherwise, they will defeat US, that is the modern civizizled Western world.
Brooks is a sympton of what is wrong with the West. He demonizes the demons. No, they have a cause. 911 was just beginning. Wake up, Davey Brooks!
