AOL Television (whatever that really is) and Discovery Channel are promoting
a search for the five greatest Americans. The only listed rules are that they are, or were, American citizens and that you can spell their first and last names correctly -- giving progressives a built-in advantage.
This is not multiple choice; you really do get to enter whatever name you want.
This is a great opportunity to make a statement. Can dKosians agree on who the "greatest American" is? Or the greatest five?

Maybe Representative Conyers would qualify? Maybe a bush admin. whistleblower -- there are certainly enough of them. How about a traditional progressive hero like Mother Jones or Woody Guthrie? An unemployed single parent whose job was outsourced and just had their health insurance cancelled? Certainly a soldier who died in Iraq should be considered. How about Michael Moore?
Let's have fun with this and, if we can reach some kind of rough consensus, let's all post the same choice(s). Keep in mind two things:
The freepers are almost certainly organizing for bush.
Fictional characters, while a potential source of hilarity and mojo, will be ignored by AOL/Discovery.
