By all indications there seems to be some expectation that unless they are super-charismatic, candidates must be uncontroversial to get elected. One need look no further than the 2000 elections, where the running joke was how similar and boring the candidates were (which turned out to be neither true nor funny). So I figure, why not tweak a few neurons and throw out a few potential Democratic candidates that don't satisfy conventional wisdom?
