I'm not really sure how to preface
this story from the Reliable source this morning, other than I feel extremely nauseous, and soon you will as well.
A chorus of children from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama in "Katrina Kids" T-shirts serenaded the first lady at yesterday's White House Easter Egg Roll, with a song that included these lyrics to the tune of "Hey, Look Me Over":
Our country's stood beside us
People have sent us aid.
Katrina could not stop us,
Our hopes will never fade.
Congress, Bush and FEMA
People across our land
Together have come to rebuild us
And we join them hand-in-hand!
So, just in case you were wondering, everything's OK now in New Orleans.
Unfortunately, there's no link to the picture in the print version, which showed that a whopping one child in the whole group was African American.
While I like this new song, I'm still a sucker for
the classics, like "So Black":
So many of these people
almost all of them that we see
are so poor
so black
I don't remember the line about "and singing stupid songs at the white house", but Wolfie must have missed that one.
