It has long been established that God gave us free will. But, to steal a phrase, with great freedom comes great responsibility.
I was raised as a Lutheran in the Midwest. The first lesson I drew from my religion is that my first responsibility is to leave this world a better place than when I found it.
You seem to have forgotten this. All your judgment will not change a single thing. No matter how many "Left Behind" books you read, you have not left the world a better place.
God did not set out rules to bash each other over the head with. Perhaps you should all ask yourselves what have you done for your fellow man. Calvinism was over before it even started. You cannot simple rely on the fact that you are successful as proof of God's grace. You have a responsibility (it is a hefty one, I admit) to make His world a better place.
How does gay bashing improve the world? The bible has a lot more to say about usury than gays. Yet I still have yet to see your so-called moral majority go after payday loan places. Jesus did not turn over the homo's table in the temple. If you will pick your nose up out of that "Left Behind" book and read the real thing you will discover that it was actually the money-changers that were driven from the temple.
So spare me your tales of the moral decline of the world. I don't give a flying f*ck. Just tell me this - what have you done to make God's Earth a better place? Because that is the only question you will be asked at the gate of St. Peter.
