Abstinence education has been shown to be yet another miserable failure.
Yep. A new Texas A&M study, sponsored by the state of Texas, shows that abstinence education doesn't exactly work. In fact, the students receiving abstinence education actually were increasingly sexually active, in step with statewide trends.
The study showed about 23 percent of ninth-grade girls, typically 13 to 14 years old, had sex before receiving abstinence education. After taking the course, 29 percent of the girls in the same group said they had had sex.
Boys in the tenth grade, about 14 to 15 years old, showed a more marked increase, from 24 percent to 39 percent, after receiving abstinence education.
Someone's going to lose their grant funding over this one.
Time to get out that old letter to the editor pen and protest the politicized tripe that's being forced on kids instead of good information.
