We have one opportunity to frame this election reform debate publicly.
I propose that each of us within our individual states and districts write letters to our representatives and senators, especially those who spoke against the challenge.
The job of paid representatives is to represent not only citizens of their party, but all citizens within their jurisdiction. We need to make it clear that those supporting the challenge did so at our urging. We should also express disappointment at the refusal of the republicans to take seriously allegations of voting irregularity. It is not the right or responsibility of paid representatives to determine that an issue is invalid just because they wish it so.
We can submit the letters to local newspaper editors to get this issue in the public eye and take political pressure off of the representatives themselves.
