Mediaweek is reporting that former federal telecommunications regulator W. Kenneth Ferree has resigned from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, just five months after becoming the corporation's COO and executive vp.

From the article: "As chief of the media bureau at the Federal Communications Commission for four years before joining CPB, Ferree pushed to accelerate the transition to digital TV and sought to lower barriers to media consolidation.
A source told Mediaweek that CPB President Patricia Harrison late Wednesday sent stations a message stating Ferree's resignation was effective that day, without providing a reason for his departure. A switchboard operator at CPB on Thursday morning said Ferree no longer worked there. A CPB spokesman did not immediately return a telephone call."
I don't think anyone saw this coming, this is certainly a surprise to me. It looks like the CPB is in a bit of turmoil with a new chairperson and an advisory panel --composed of over 100 Republican members of the House of Representatives -- recommending the ending all funding for the CPB earlier this month.
The future is so bright for the CPB, you're better off not wearing shades.
My question: What do you think this means?
