Unless you're crazy, fundraising in political campaigns is no fun. It's particularly no fun in states like Montana where people are really spread out and don't have much money (where our per-capita income is something like $24k/year). For reasons such as this, easy fundraising avenues are absolutely invaluable and
ActBlue's new states project is one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time.
Having worked for the state party in Montana for the last three cycles, I've seen the difficulty that our candidates - particularly our local legislative candidates - have raising money. We took back our state during this last cycle on shoe leather and elbow grease... This is how Dems win in Montana. Hell, I don't think that my current favorite candidate Jon Tester ever even raised more than $15,000 per cycle while rising to his current position as president of the state Senate. Regardless, that amount of money isn't easy to raise in some of these districts where your closest neighbor is on the farm 3 miles away.
So please everyone, help us make this happen. It's extremely important for every state that won the poll -- I'm just flacking for Montana because I love my state and I really do believe in the "Montana Magic." I believe in Gov. Schweitzer and Sen. Tester and everyone else in our terrific state party. I know how hard they work to win uphill battles in a state that still polls red. So please, anything you can do to make this amazing tool available.
