While skimming over Harriet Miers's submitted
job application questionnaire (PDF) for the Senate Judiciary committee, I was perplexed by the following incomplete entry under Category 12, "Memberships":
1983-Present: Board of Consultants Member (1983-1987 Board of Directors, 1987-1989 Associate Board Member, 1993-Present, Board of Consultants Member), an organization that works to translate the Bible into languages into which it has not yet been translated. Contact: Randal Smith, (972) 708-7460.
That's it. No title. Apparently Miers has been a member since 1983 of a Bible translation organization whose name she can't recall.
Could I possibly help her out here?
Well, sure. It took only a few minutes with Google. Would have been quicker, except that "Randal Smith" was a misspelling; it should have been "Rondal Smith". He's the president of Pioneer Bible Translators of Dallas,
www.pioneerbible.org. (I had to search on the phone number to locate the right organization; Harriet did get that right, luckily.)
That was easy! A few minutes of my spare time, and I helped revise and expand the "inadequate" and "insufficient" questionnaire that Miers has been asked to go back to work on. Which gave me an excellent idea: why not make her questionnaire an open-source project? Surely if we all chip in as "developers", we can supply a complete user-friendly and production-ready Harriet Miers Supreme Court Nomination Questionnaire for the Judiciary Committee to use.
So I hereby invite the Kos community to contribute to the project! All you have to do is to pick out an entry in the questionnaire that is unfinished, puzzling, incorrect, or otherwise flawed, "debug" it, and contribute your revised source code as a comment to this diary!
