The War in Iraq has now gone on longer than the US involvement in WW I. Was it for the same reasons?
Were both entered with the same justifiable public support?
Should the later continue "until the job is done?" What does that mean if so? My name is Barry Welsh, and I am running for Congress against Mike Pence in Indiana's 6th District.
The 6th is a new district (2000 redistricting) in Indiana, made up largely of parts of the old 2nd and 9th district. These two seats were held by Phil Sharp and Lee Hamilton. This district is not as Republican as it appears or as it is presupposed.
A little More below.
The Democrats in this district have been staying home in some races because they have felt the National Party has over looked their heartland values. There are Democrat mayors in key cities in this district, and it will be in play a year from now, with your help. Congressman Pence and I have many differences, and that is one reason I asked the questions at the beginning of this post.
Congressman Pence supports the troops, I have no doubt about his sincerity in saying that. I support the troops as well, and that is where the similarity between the two of us ends. I understand that you can support the troops and not support the deployment.
Congressman Pence believes we are justly lead into Iraq. I believe we were falsely lead into Iraq. Congressman Pence repeatedly stated his certainty of the existence of weapons of mass destruction, and still holds that opinion, or at least has yet to refute it. I think that the greatest army in the world should have remained completely focused on Afghanistan and capturing Osama Bin Laden.
Congressman Pence thinks that we must stay in Iraq indefinitely to avoid a civil war. I think that we need to begin gradual and graduated troop withdraw, beginning immediately, with the National Guard units, and continue until we have fully withdrawn, and let the Iraqis control Iraq.
The Iraq War is just one of the many issues Congressman Pence and I disagree on. Social Security Privatization, Operation Offset social services cuts, dependency on oil, support of Tom Delay, anti-stem cell resaearch and curing disease, the list is long, and I will continue to address our opposing views here in the future. You can read or listen to speeches and the views expressed at our website.

Is the Iraq War as justifiable as WWI? I say not even close. Am I wrong?
