"While it's perfectly legitimate to criticize my decision or the conduct of the war, it is deeply irresponsible to rewrite the history of how that war began,"
George W. Bush 11/11/05
My oh my. George wants to talk about responsibility all of a sudden, does he? Well let's.
[go below the fold]
Mr. Bush was it responsible when Condi Rice said:
"we don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud."
Mr. Bush was it responsible when Dick Cheney said:
"And we believe he has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons.
"Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction."
Mr. Bush was it responsible to say that Iraq sought uranium from African despite the fact that you knew that that theory had been debunked (and later admitted that it should not have been in the SOTU)?
Mr. Bush was it responsible to claim that those tubes could only be used for nuclear weapons, and ignore all the evidence to the contrary?
Mr. Bush was it responsible to send Colin Powell into the United Nations with information from a source that had been widely discredited (Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi)?
Mr. Bush was it responsible to ignore the findings of the UN weapons inspectors and NOT LET THEM finish their work, after they (those in the best position and with the best available intelligence) informed the world that there was no evidence that Iraq had reconstituted its WMD program?
LET'S talk about responsibilty, because you need to be held responsible for the blood of over 2000 americans that is on your hands.
