Signatures, the infamous restaurant that was owned by scandal-riddled Rethug bagman Jack Abramoff, is attempting a make-over:
With Abramoff gone, changes are on the horizon for Signatures : The Hill
The new partners, who include Mark Smith of the Da Vinci Group, former Rep. Bob Livingston (R-La.), Phil Friedman of CGS Inc. and Chef Morou Ouattara, even plan to jettison the Signatures name. They're going to leave it up to their guests to decide on the new name through a contest.
This should provide at least a bit of fun for those of you dKossite out there that are into fine dining and politics.
Bob Livingston was the jackhole Rethug that resigned in the midst of the Clinton impeachment, having been fingered as a known hypocritical adulterer.
So in short, the restaurant still has the taint of Replug hubris all over it; more from the The Hill article:
In the meantime, Smith says, he's trying to put the word out that "everybody's welcome," a thinly veiled reference to the place's reputation under Abramoff as a Republican redoubt for "friends of Jack."
Even more to the point, he says, from now on "everybody pays."
Winners of the renaming contest will be treated to a $500 gift certificate and an opportunity to guest host an "Iron Chef" (Food TV Networks American version) viewing party when the episode that newly installed Chef Morou Ouattara won against Ris Lacoste of 1789 and Cesare Lanfranconi of Tosca.
How sweet would it be if a dKossite won the contest! It would be like going into Jabba the Hutt's hive of scum and villany, without suffering the indignity of being frozen in carbonite.
And the food is liable to be pretty tasty, too!
Bring your food tasters, just in case.
