Rep. John Murtha, Fighting Irish Democrat from PA., lifelong Marine, today called The Mesopotamian Madness of BushCabal by its rightful name: "a flawed policy wrapped in illusion." He suggests the only rational exit strategy: U.S. forces out of Iraq in six months, consistent with the safety of our troops. Incentivize the Iraqis to take over their own destiny by letting them know that we are leaving.
Murtha, generally seen as a Congressional voice for the uniformed services, explained the present crisis as well as anyone could : "Our military is suffering, the future of our country is at risk. We cannot continue on the present course. It is evident that continued military action in Iraq is not in the best interests of the United States of America, the Iraqi people or the Persian Gulf region."
No more blood for illusion.
