I read
Yoss' diary,
We Need a Weekly Presidential Question Hour, and thought it would make a great Constitutional Amendment. Make the President answer unrehearsed questions in each House of Congress, once a week, alternating between the House and Senate. With either the Speaker of the House, or the President Pro Tem bringing the President back to the question should they wander off. Kind of like what happens in Parliment.
Of course the chances of this ever happening are between slim and none, but still....
If you could come up with a Constitutional Amendment or three and get them implemented, what would you like to change?
A couple of mine below the fold.
My first proposed Amendment is the Felony Amendment.
- No person convicted of a felony shall be eligible to hold any office in the Federal Government.
- Any official convicted of a felony while in office shall be removed from office upon conviction. Removal shall be immediate, automatic and not require any further impeachment proceedings.
- States rights to allow convicted felons to serve in State Offices shall not be infringed.
- Congress shall pass enabling legislation upon ratification.
My second proposed Amendment is the Mandatory Indictment Amendment.
- If a felony indictment can be brought against any sitting federal official, it must be brought immediately, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
- Removal from office upon conviction is automatic and equivalent to impeachment persuant to the Felony Amendment.
- Congress shall pass enabling legislation upon ratification.
What would you like to see?
