I just wanted to wish all of you a joyous and peaceful Thanksgiving - and thought it might be a good idea where we exchanged some blessings, recipes, and cooking tips too. We're not all politics, all the time, after all!
Here's my tip for the world's best pumpkin pie. My mom discovered it by accident about 30 years ago when she discovered she had run out of sugar (and back then, stores weren't open on Thanksgiving).
Take the standard pumpkin pie recipe (normally on the can!) and where it calls for sugar (normally 1 1/2 cups to make 2 pies) substitute 4 parts brown sugar, 1 part molasses, 1 part honey. (For the math challenged, 1 1/2 cups of sugar would be 1 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup molasses, 1/4 cup honey).
This makes the best pumpkin pie you'll ever have,
