During this week a growing chorus has been calling for Karl Rove's Resignation.
Reid called for Rove's resignation Sunday. Howard Dean, Joe Wilson, Paul Krugman, and I called for it Monday. Trent Lott and William Niskanen (CATO) were the first major GOPers on Tuesday. Richard Viquirie, and Pat Buchanen joined in on Wednesday. William Buckley blasted the ethics of outing a covert CIA officer Wednesday and blew apart the GOP rationalization that she wasn't really undercover or that this wasn't serious.
Fitzgerald isn't sure yet if the evidence rises to the threshold needed for a criminal indictment, however, it has surpassed that which is tolerable by moral and ethical standards for an official of the White House. Rove, also, appears likely to loose his security clearance for violation of its conditions.
But what's your view? When and How Will Karl Rove Leave the White House?
Take the Poll and Let Us Know!
Additional, considerations are, either Rove lied to McClellan and the president or they both lied to us. By allowing such a conflict of integrity to go on for so long, in and of itself, strains credibility and stains the integrity of Bush, Rove, and McClellan, and our Nation. If McClellan didn't have anything to do with it, then he should resign to preserve his own credibility.
But one resignation at a time. Let's focus our attention back to Karl Rove. I was greatly please to notice that when I Googled "Rove Resignation" our very own Mumon brings honor to our site by showing up ninth in all the world! He accomplished this putting a highly functional and well thought out TAG on his post of June 24, 2005. LOL
What a glorious achievement. It brings hope to me and millions of other lonely bloggers who wonder if all of this work and effort will ever make a difference. Does he even know how famous he is? Can you imagine how many million and millions of Google hits this means he has received to achieve this rank order in Google's "Relevance" counter program?
Also, I think it responds to a suggestion made elsewhere on the KOS site tonight that we stop putting Bush's name in our Tags cause he is getting way more hits here than everyone else. Yes, but they are negative hits and they show up in queries all over the world. And lead a lot of outside folks to our site and may even expose them to high level intelligent political discussion for the first time. (Ok, it's late Friday night, and I am here alone typing on my computer. Cut me a little slack.... please.)
Daily Kos: Let's DEMAND Rove's Resignation
Let's DEMAND Rove's Resignation. by Mumon. Fri Jun 24, 2005 at 07:03:06 AM PDT.
My missive to George W. Bush:. Dear Mr. President:. Karl Rove must resign. ...
Let's DEMAND Rove's Resignation
I may be a little too melodramatic but I am imagining A Wonderful Life, where poor Mumon is so depressed tonight he is about to jump off a bridge just before Fitzmas part 2, and some angel rushes out with a copy of this wonderful achievement. Keep up the good work Mumon. And Don't Jump!
Meanwhile, with much less glory and tremendously lower on the same Google search you will find my three diaries from earlier this week that I still recommend.
Growing GOP Chorus Calls For Rove Resignation
Why Rove Will Resign Even If Not Indicted
Three White House Resignation Strategies
About 25 to 30 great comments worth reading adorn the first two. Three White House Resignation Strategies was my first diary post here on Monday and got ZERO comments but I still think it's a good read. If someone doesn't go over an give me at least one comment I might go jump of the same bridge Mumon was on. LOL
Before we get back to our new Poll for tonight, I would like to call attention to and celebrate another "ancient" accomplishment. I know the ethos today is that anything more than a couple hours old is stale. How many here know that sinking sick feeling one gets as you watch you latest diary post sink down below the 50 Que in about 10 minutes. Never to be seen again.
But low and behold, I found another Karl Rove Resignation Poll here on our very own site that I think is still interesting and useful even though it wasn't done today.
This one was brought to us on July 14, 2005 by Nyt33. I just added my vote a few minutes ago and it will works! This is like when Woody Allen found the old Volkswagen in Sleeper 100 years into the future in the bottom of a quarry and it starts right up on the first time. Sometimes we just have to marvel at the ancient ones and their terrific technological achievements. I had forgotten we had electricity back then. LOL
I'll give you the link here if you'll promise to come back and take my poll tonight.
Bush/Rove: Incompetent, partisan, vindictive (poll)
Bush/Rove: Incompetent, partisan, vindictive (poll)
What should be the goal of this Karl Rove controversy for Democrats?
Rove resignation 1 vote - 2 %
Bush fires Rove 1 vote - 2 %
Rove apology 0 votes - 0 %
Bush impeachment 21 votes - 60 %
Get Bush and Republicans off message for a few weeks 1 vote - 2 %
Democrat gains in House & Senate in 2004 10 votes - 28 %
No goals. Just enjoyment from watching White House squirm 1 vote - 2 %
35 Total Votes
I think Nyt33 meant regain House and Senate in 2006.
Tonight I was wondering "When and How Will Karl Rove Leave the White House?"
I already know from my previous diaries that the overwhelming first reaction of the majority here would be "When heck freezes over!" or words to that effect. And while that would be emotionally cathartic and fun for a Friday night, I am really curious and eager to learn what you all really think about this.
I am mixing two questions. For When the choices are, November 30, 2005, January 1, 2006, January 1, 2007, prior to the end of the Bush term, or successfully all the way to the end (1/23/09? OMG!).
For how, I have already heard "after prying his cold dead fingers of the White House steps, or kicking and screaming," but the only choices I am allowing in this poll are After Indictment or by Voluntary Resignation. Cheers and Best Wishes. And enjoy the poll.
