Porter Goss gave a 'rare'
interview to Good Morning America today. In this interview, Goss admitted that bin Laden and al-Zarqawi have not been caught simply because they are better than the CIA. That's right. The head of the CIA admitted that two people are more skilled than the organization he controls. In his own words:
Al Qaida leaders Bin Laden and al-Zarqawi haven't been found "primarily because they don't want us to find them and they're going to great lengths to make sure we don't find them," Goss said
So it's that easy? All it takes to beat the CIA is simply to not wish to be found.
More below.
Goss' assertion is simply ludicrous. If anything is 'emboldening the terrorists', it would be an admission by the intelligence chief that the United States lacks the power to find and capture terrorist leaders simply because they don't want to be found.
More from Goss:
He insisted the CIA knows "a good deal more" about the men "than we're able to say publicly."
The 'Daddy will take care of you, don't worry' mentality of the GOPists. We've heard this one before. How much more is there to know besides where these people are? Did we finally find out what kind of candy Osama likes? Has the CIA solved the mystery of whether al-Zarqawi wears boxers or briefs?
"What we do does not come close to torture," Goss said
Oh well that's nice.. what exactly do we do then? He couldn't elaborate. Daddy knows best.
"We're fighting a war on terror," he said in response to a question about the prisons. "We're doing quite well. Inevitably, we're going to have to capture some terrorists and inevitably they're going to have to have some due process. It's going to be done lawfully."
How many different ways are there to say '9/11 changed everything!'? It's interesting that he actually says that they will have due process... inevitably, of course, when the War on Terror is finished.
And that won't happen until bin Laden decides he wants to be found, right Porter?
