The election is getting very close in the San Diego race and I wanted to report what looks like a nasty dirty trick by Republican operatives trying to throw the race to Jerry Sanders and Kevin Faulconer. Just the other day I received a mailer-voter guide with seemingly Democratic postions: vote no on these propositions, pictures of Phil Angelides and his endorsements of the props, etc., etc. We are getting a lot of these now, so I normally glance over them and toss 'em.
What struck me as WRONG was that in the mayor and city council races the endorsements were off: vote for Jerry Sanders and some guy named Grosch for city council?! At first, I thought Phil Angelides had sold Donna Frye out, but then I remembered during the primary he came to San Diego and endoresed Donna Frye. There is just no way he would switch days before the election and I had not heard anything through my local channels. This was a Republican dirty trick to confuse Democratic voters with something that looked like it was sent by Democratics, but its goal was to elect Republicans.
I never thought I would see something like this in my mailbox. It is very disturbing and of course, I could not find out who sent it.
