I hope you'll indulge for a moment and allow me to post a brief personal diary.
In recent days, for a number of reasons, I've been experiencing a marked increase in workplace stress, as well as stress related to my personal life. Unfortunately, the stress is interfering with my ability to both work and enjoy myself.
A number of people have recommended that I take a Zen Meditation class (or a meditation class wholly unrelated to the practice of Zen Buddhism) as a way to deal with this stress.
So I started looking. . .
But I immediately faced a problem. I live in Manhattan, in New York City, and I immediately saw that there were TOO MANY CHOICES! It seems you can't throw a rock without hitting some kind of meditation class or organization in NYC.
So I was hoping I could turn to you, the Daily Kos community, and especially those of you who live in NYC, for suggestions or recommendations for a good beginner meditation class for persons looking to manage high levels of stress.
Any suggestions?
Again, thank you for the courtesy of allowing me this personal diary.
