I am sorry but I just gotta say it... the media can just shove it with the "Presidential" stuff...
Like Samson in the Old Testament, I am going to "push over a few pillars in the Philistine temple" with this post.
The Media (when they want to) acts like the US President has to go around with a coathanger in his suitcoat all the time. "Media Presidential" means... just what anyway?
You can't be a human being,, whoop and holler when your backers need a lift? Say that you are not going to give up after a setback? If you get hoarse trying to reach the back of a room filled with excited yelling supporters, that is bad!?!
Most Americans who saw the whole speech would cut Howard Dean some slack.
I've been hoarse after going to a good game myself. What is the big deal?
Lighten up, already...
As Howie Mandell used to say... What? WHAT? WHAAAT?
Click for some more really good stuff...
Americans go over the top for football, soccer, basketball, hockey, you name it. Some Americans put on rubber pig's noses, and others wear 'cheesehead' hats for a football team. Americans do all sorts of things.
We had a presidential candidate in the nineties who played the saxophone on TV when he was running for office. It wasn't "Media Presidential", you just... could... not... shut the media blowhards up.
But this guy got elected. And then in spite of the media howling... he got re-elected.
He made a damn good president. I kind of wish he had kept his pants zipped, but it was really none of my business. I did not want my kids learning about odd uses of cigars from Ken Starr. It was sad that this smart guy did not know the stain was on...
But, hey, back then a couple of million people had jobs, that don't have them now...
And median family income was higher. And there was something called a budget surplus, a brutal dictator was in a box in the Middle East, and our troops prevented a genocide in Kosovo... without losing a single soldier.
Bill Clinton was very "American Presidential".
He looked out for the little guy as best he could in the time he had, with the enemies he had.
Even with his human faults, all of 'em, the cigars, the fast food... The country was in better shape as he left office than it was when he took over from some guy named 'Bush'.
Later, we had another candidate, another guy named 'Bush'. This guy gets all "holy" on us once-in-a-while, but this same guy called a newspaper reporter an 'asshole' while he was running for president. This dumb "holy guy" didn't know the mike was on...
For some "unknown" reason, the media took a shine to this candidate. I have my suspicions concerning media consolidation approval as a reason, but I have no proof.
The media dumped on his opponent, didn't like his clothes, called him a liar, made up stuff he never said about 'inventing the internet'.
The media really gave the "holy guy" a pass on his military record, his sorry record as a money-losing businessman, his shady stock dealings, alcholism, drugs, awol (or was it desertion), you name it, this guy got a FREE PASS.
And you know what, the media just keeps on renewing this bum's FREE PASS...
Now they are pushing the line that the "holy guy" is presidential.
I think the "holy guy" is "Media Presidential".
The country is running a record deficit that is "unsustainable" and has the IMF grumbling. The dollar is down. Gas prices are up. The US Army is stuck to a tarbaby in Iraq over non-existent WMD lies, and over 500 American kids have died there.
The unemployment numbers suck, as a matter of fact they haven't been this bad since the Great Depression. The only people in America having a party right now happen to be rich Wall Street types who give the "holy guy" millions in campaign contributions. And now the "holy guy" and his buddies in congress took away overtime from the lowest paid people in America.
This "holy guy" has not done squat for the little guy in America since he didn't win the last election... Not even extending unemployment for the people he threw out of work!
The "holy guy" makes a big deal out of two things... being 'churchified' and going to fundraisers!
George Bush is very "Media Presidential"...
Now... "Look out, R2, I am going in..."
To me, there is absolutely no sign that anybody's God likes the "holy guy". My Bible says "holy guys" don't lie to us, and they feed the poor, not the rich.
Somehow, I just don't remember anything in the bible ANYWHERE that would lead me to believe that Jesus would have a positive attitude towards people with an agenda like poisoning children with mercury for money. Nor do I think Jesus would approve of stealing other people's computer files in congress.
What was that, "Thou Shalt Not Steal", Senator Frist, Majority 'Leader'?
Whaaa, did he really say that!?!?! Yep, I did!
And I intend to continue calling a hypocrite a hypocrite.
And a Pharisee??? Well I will call him Tom DeLay...
Back to "Presidential"...
Now, we have during this race a guy who came from a small town in a small state. He and his wife are medical doctors. He gave the old people and children medical care and prescription drug benefits. He balanced the budget over and over again while he did it. He got re-elected time after time in spite of standing up for the equal rights of a dispised minority, homosexuals.
The guy really did take care of the people who entrust themselves into his hands.
I'll say it again, the people who entrusted Howard Dean with taking care of them... actually got taken care of.
That means something to me.
And it is "American Presidential"... to the max.
I'll vote for anybody but Bush, but I am still standing for the good Dr. Dean.
I am a Red Meat Dem... I calls 'em as I sees 'em.
