There's a neon pair of tits (courtesy of MSNBC) near the top of the ads here at dKos. Cool, fine, whatever. What bothers me is that the link simply goes to the generic MSNBC-TV page. There's no story at all, unless you search for it. I honestly don't care about these "sexy" dKos ads, but I'm annoyed that the link doesn't go to a story. It's just a neon pair of tits that leads to the main MSNBC-TV page. That seems really, really tacky to me.
Were the pie ads sexist? I don't have a strong opinion. Were the volleyball ads sexist? Probably not. Whatever. The culture seems to be going backwards with how women are portrayed. I remember liking the first episode of "The Man Show" because it mocked the politically correct culture of the time. But then every damn show ran with it, and it stopped being satire. Every show had their equivalent of girls on trampolines. I don't blame Kos. But this MSNBC ad bothers me, because it doesn't link to the story it advertises. It's a "major" cable news channel using a pair of neon tits to link to their main TV page. That offends me in all kinds of ways. How many dumb news readers are we sitting through every day just because they look like models? How many inane interviews with important people are we enduring from these idiots? How many important questions aren't being asked?
For the record, I don't believe this reflects poorly on dKos. It reflects poorly on MSNBC. Love my Keith, but what a fuckup network! Maybe CNN can give him Larry King's spot. Unless they've already given it to Anderson Cooper.
