Remember how screenings of Fahrenheit 9/11 were used as outreach opportunites last year? Well, with Brokeback Mountain breaking the all-time record for per-theater openings, at least for a non-animated film, with well in excess of 10,000 moviegoers at each location, it looks like a perfect opportunity has arisen Friday. Brokeback is expanding to more cities, but still mostly one theater per city, ensuring a large number of people per location. A list of cities and theaters follows. This would be a great opportunity to spread the word about
Ford's actions.
If you can verify a theater in your area will be showing the film, comment here, then contact a local gay and lesbian political organization about distributing literature. Queer political groups and community centers could also do general information outreach, not necessarily related to Ford.
