You all are probably aware by now that the Senate blocked oil drilling in ANWR today because the GOP couldn't get 60 votes to block a filibuster.
From the AP.
"Drilling backers fell four votes short of getting the required 60 votes to avoid a threatened filibuster of the defense measure over the oil drilling issue. Senate leaders were expected to withdraw the legislation so it could be reworked without the refuge language. The vote was 56-44."
But what you might not have known was this:
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist was among those who for procedural reasons cast a "no" vote, so that he could bring the drilling issue up for another vote.
Flip Flop!!!!!!!!
Why is this important?
Continue over the flip.
I'm sure you, like me, are still haunted from the John Kerry "I voted for the war after voting against it" speech. However, Kerry's vote has no more than a similar "procedural vote", and Rove found a way to make it seem like he was wishy washy.
Frist is a flip-flopper. He voted againt drilling in ANWR, right before he (will presumably) vote for it.
How can we make thiswork to our advantage? Signs? Ads? Google Bombing might be a start.
Bill Frist is a flip flopper.
