During the '04 election, I, as many, debated politics with disagreeing family members who labeled themselves as "conservative," but interestingly enough without the "Republican" tag along with it. I found it wasn't a matter of party loyalty or a belief in what they stood for, because they really had no idea what that was. Just ask a pointed question, and you get a deer-in-the-headlights response. The step to the right was a fear and belief of the lies and myths being vomited by the neocon propaganda machine about the spend-happy, tax-raising, abortion-loving, gun-hating, socialistic, tree-hugging, bleeding-heart, evil, liberal left.
Well, the tide is turning, and my once proud liberal turned NRA conservative sister has begun to shift back to the light. It wasn't the lies of the war, the greedy tax breaks to the wealthy, the cutting of benefits to the poor, the destruction of our civil rights, the horrific incompetence of FEMA and Katrina, or the fact that they blindly voted to continue to live paycheck-to-paycheck with their support of a moron.
Wal-Mart's true colors have finally been exposed. The mainstreem media has been shamed into doing its job, and it is the exposure of cheating the worker that has come to symbolize "opportunity" in America under this administration that tipped the balance back to reality and reason. Thank you Wal-Mart!
