I've noticed over the past few days diaries filled with anger and worry over the right-wing attack on our beloved Dr. Dean, stemming from a comment he made which the Repugs, as usual, took totally out of context. The fear that we are being Branded as "retreat and defeat" and everyone is PANICKED!!!
Fucking relax and chill for a second
First off, the RadicalRightTM needs to make someone on our side the "boogeyman" for a few days because attempts on distinguished Democrats like John "Jack" Murtha simply backfired. So, they attack Dean. Some myopic and weak-kneed Democrats joined the cry for a few days. Fuck them and let's move on. Let's put things in perspective.
More below the fold:
It's just some red meat for the 1.2 million or so FOX watchers who'll never vote Democratic anyway and its
racist, homophobic, xenophobic, misogynistic, hardcore Republican base. And some web-e-mail that went out to RNC donors- Woo Hoo - I'm quakin' in my boots.
Take a look back at the Republican shitstorm we've brought front and center just this past year - helping to further BRAND the REAL negatives of the vile Rethuglican Party.
Yes, take a step out of your box and look at our BRANDING of the Rethuglicans:
- Bush Lied People DiedTM. Over 50% of Americans now believe Bush lied to make the case for war. It's stuck on Georgie's legacy forever. It will go down in history as such, because, the left kept pushing the truth and never let the meme die.
- Katrina and Republican RacismTM. Uncovered the real Conservative agenda. We had Barbara Bush and her infamous "well, they were poor anyway, so this is working out well for them" statement - illustrating the racist "out-of-touch" Republican mentality. Kanye West further branding overt racism in the party by accurately noting that "George Bush doesn't care about black people." And, of course, who could ever forget Bill Bennet talking about aborting black babies to reduce crime. Just as repulsive is Grover Norquist's statement. And we have Coulter and Malkin seeking to convert and jail Muslims. Maybe one day Malkin will realize that the party she defends are filled with loads of people who would be more than happy to provide her and her hubby with a one-way ticket to South Asia. Enough said.
- Dick Cheney, Vice President for TortureTM Day in and day out reports of Cheney seeking to allow torture. Enough said because it's too disturbing to ponder for more than a few seconds.
- Culture of CorruptionTM The list is so long I don't even know where to begin. We have Delay and Frist and Rove and Libby and the Abramoff scandals and on and on and on. You do the math. It's seems never ending.
- Social Security Privatization ScamTM. An attempt to reward Wall Street, while gambling with retirement security for the middle class. Dead in the water.
- Radical Religious RightTM Tucked away behind the scenes no more - far-right loons like Pat Robertson come out in full force with an election man-date to promote the assasination of world leaders and tell the people of Pennsylvania they "rejected God" and not to ask for any favors (uncovering Intelligent Design as repackaged creationism we all new it was). Congress pandering to Fundamentalists by trying to overide Terri Schiavo's personal life wishes for a dignified death. Spongebob Dobson on the hunt to curb any rights for people in the GLBT community. The left brought the hateful un-Christian words of these extremist bigots to the forefront and the MSM, holding them accountable for the Fundamentalism they seek to impose on every American.
- Tax Cuts for RichTM While not as publicized as other Republican atrocities this year, still disturbing nonetheless. Tax breaks for the oil companies, while cutting funding for education and Medicaid
The list could go on and on. When they attack us, we need to attack ten times harder. But getting all nillie willie and "Help! They are branding us! We're doomed" gets us nowhere.
Dig up shit on all of them. Expose their crap and stop fighting over bullcrap. Watch every move they make and bring it front and center. Don't quake in your boots when Drudge posts something. You are just walking right into their trap!
So grow a pair and let's get back to BRANDING the Republicans. We have been for the past year, quite well in many cases. Focus!
UPDATE: Just to be clear, I am in no way saying that "branding" is the only answer. Nor am I saying we should get too overly optimistic or complacent because of our successes. I'm merely pointing out that we also brand, have done so successfully, and need to focus on continuing that effort, and not defeatism (along with a multi-faceted agenda for 2006).
UPDATE II: By popular request, I added the Radical Religious Right, and some of the antics we've exposed, to the list.
