Bush declares Sunday National Sanctity of Human Life Day

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President George W. Bush proclaimed Sunday National Sanctity of Human Life Day and Religious Freedom Day.
"The Declaration of Independence proclaimed that all Americans are endowed by the Creator with the unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," Bush noted in a statement.
Bush, who formally opposes abortion, added that: "On National Sanctity of Human Life Day, we celebrate the sacred gift of life. Our nation has made significant progress in recent years toward building a culture of life."
As Bush's second term gets underway, some rights groups fear that he could try to push to have abortion made illegal by appointing more conservative Supreme Court justices when able. Abortion has been legal in the United States since 1973.
"Working with the Congress, my administration has halted spending of taxpayers' money on international programs that promote abortions overseas. We continue to promote abstinence education, adoption programs, crisis pregnancy programs and other efforts to help protect life," Bush said. -End

The Declaration of Independence states, "...all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life..." No, it does not proclaim, "all Americans are endowed by the Creator...", as President Bush quoted it. It founders clearly meant everyone, everywhere.
We are pro-life and we agree with the sentiment Mr. Bush reflects about the life of the unborn. For the moment we give him the benefit of the doubt.
Those who believe in God the Creator must also test the killing of every man, woman, and child of every race and place against this same standard. Some of our friends may disagree on this, but they should think about consistency. The President is not consistent since he excludes the rest of the world from God's creation because he thinks he can.
The Founding Fathers would never have thought of excluding the unborn from God's humanity. These men penned a statement about God's justice, and in logic they excluded no one. Shame on George W. Bush, a forger of the Founding Fathers by excluding millions...a sin as bad as the unnecessary and brutal Serial Wars that are killing them.
