Somewhere in the bushy blandness of Alpharetta, Ga there lies a covert company with sweating brows. Choicepoint is a clearing house for all kinds of financial information which has recently gained notoriety by selling this information to the government to assist in law enforcement and, well, anything else the government might want (there gov web page is
here). This dubious undertaken has made ChoicePoint the pillar of what's being called the military-information complex (I tried to find a good article on the web, no dice). Today, 35,000 people in Cali had their identity swipped.
Are you one of those people? If so, I say sue ChoicePoint. Sue them and don't settle. This isn't an issue of someone asleep at the wheel, this is an issue of an inherently dangerous buisness that collects and stores all of this information in place, and it needs to be stopped. This is the perfect opportunity, and I only wish I was one of the 35,000 so I could get a good civil rights lawyer and try to end this madness.
