The juxtaposition of several news stories and blogs is especially interesting today, as Bushco seems to have opened the dikes on "evil" Iran.
First we have as the lead story on Google News that Porter Goss, new head of the CIA, states that "Iraq Feeds The International Terrorist Threat", which it didn't just a few years ago. And there is more, as in Bloomberg North Korea and Iran were put forward as the most imminent threats, working through Al Qaeda. This theme was promulagated by several other Bushco talking heads.
Meanwhile, in our current "war" Juan Cole points towards a very interesting
article on the current state of Iraq, a place where "Too often we have sat and listened to officials tell us what is happening in an Iraq that they themselves are barely able to visit."
Contrast this with Dahr Jamail's latest stories from Fallujah, a place where "...A six year-old boy of the family was standing over the bodies of his parents, crying, and he too was then shot...
How do we prevent this train from rolling forward? Is the Bush administraton intent on using the draft to try to control the Middle East? Are they nuts? Or does it just seem like it to me? I haven't felt this helplessness in promoting our real ideals, instead of death and destruction, in many years.
