Okay, it's Friday afternoon and I need a diversion. Haven't seen a thread yet on the NHL playoffs and would like to hear what the Kossack hockey fans think (if there are any).
But first, my "take it to the bank", "lock of the year" prediction: my team, the Toronto Maple Leafs (putting the fun in dysfunction since 1968) will fail to win the Stanley Cup, yet again.
Other predictions (and comments):
West:
Wings over Oilers in six: Wings just too strong. Won't go deep though if Datsyuk isn't available to make a big contribution.
Stars over Avs in five: Goaltending (or lack thereof) will be the difference).
Flames over Ducks in seven: Very interesting first round series. Very hot team in the 2nd half (Ducks) and two of the best goalies in the league, both with playoff experience. Wouldn't be surprised if it went the other way.
Sharks over Preds: Loss of Vokoun just too much for Preds.
East:
Lightning over Sens in six: Lightning rounding into form. Sens will not overcome history and loss of Hasek.
Hurricanes over Canadiens in six: Good series but too much firepower for Carolina.
Flyers over Sabres in seven: Flyers will wear down the smaller Sabres.
Devils over the Rangers in five: Too much playoff experience for the Devils. Brodeur one of the best playoff goalies ever.
Conference Semis:
West:
San Jose over Detroit in seven
Calgary over Dallas in six
East:
Carolina over Tampa in six
Devils over Flyers in five
Conference Finals:
Calgary over San Jose in seven
Devils over Carolina in five
Finals
Calgary over Devils in six
But I may be mistaken. Your thoughts?
