President Bush Unveils Bold Social Security/Anti-Terror Plan
Feb. 3, 2005 | WASHINGTON -- Just one day after his State of the Union Addresss, President Bush annouced the Patriotic Retirement And Vital Democracies Attainment Act, which he plans to make the focal point of his bold agenda.
"The enemies of freedom are determined to stop the spread of democracy," said the President during a brief press conference on the White House lawn, "Meanwhile, Social Security is in need of wise and effective reform, the American people want to take ownership of their retirement."
Under the PRAVDA Act, Americans over the age of 65 will begin "Post-Retirement Service" in United States Military opperations in Syria and Iran.
"Hard working Americans deserve to retire in dignity," said the President. "Which is why I'm asking Congress to enable them to spend their Golden Years in honorable service to their country."
Under the President's plan, retired Americans will have a choice between two plans. Americans saving one million dollars or more may place their money in tax exempt "patriotic savings accounts" and invest this money to fund their retirement.
Post-Retirement Service will allow all other Americans to continue to receive retirement benefits from their military salaries.
Bush concluded the press conference by alluding to another war time President. "Franklin Roosevelt one promised a nation which guarented jobs for those who can work and security for those who need it. My plan will make his promise a reality."
