As you all know, the SCLM has not reported, leaked, whispered, written, or broadcast one word about the numbers of Iraqi civilians killed in the war. I, like may of you, was stunned when Johns Hopkins came out with it's estimate of 100,000 civilians killed last fall. God knows how much that number has gone up since then. We certainly don't, since no one ever tells us. I continue to be ashamed and mortified that my country has engaged in slaughtering tens of thousands of innocent civlians without so much as an acknowledgment of their deaths. And, as the American people aren't clamoring for accountability, it appears that this number will go undocumented, unreported, and ignored by the media, and thus, by the American people.
So--I want to do a little experiment. The WS reported that this site gets 400,000 hits a day. If only 1/4 of us participate in this experiment, it will be enough to make a difference.
What I propose is this. Each of us take 5 minutes out of his or her day to email CNN and ask them why they have not reported the number of Iraqi civilians killed in this war. Don't say anything other than that. No titles, no blog affiliations, no slamming on Bush, just your name and city--a regular American, without an agenda, asking the biggest cable news station in the world why it's not doing it's job.
Sure, they'll figure that this is some "action" by a left-wing group---but who cares? Even a few hundred emails would be tough for them to ignore. Heck, everyone knew the agenda of Dobson's group, and look how much publicity they got. My hope, and I know it's a long shot, is that CNN will realize how badly it had dropped the ball on this war. Their CEO says that they want to get back to reporting the news without the political slant? Fine, prove it.
Here's the email:

Please post and let me know if you emailed. And, if you think this experiment is worthwile, please recommend so we get a lot of participants.
