From ABC News:
"According to an ABC News poll released earlier this week, 87 percent of those surveyed said they would not want to be kept alive if in Terri Schiavo's condition, and 65 percent said a spouse should have the final say in what happens to a patient, as opposed to parents."
It seems like Democrats in Congress have an opportunity to articulate a progressive moral message: "Each of us have a right to determine our own end of life decisions" or "The Government has no right to step into what is a deeply personal decision." or "Respect marriage... Terri chose her husband, he knows her best, and we should respect that."
Unfortunelty, Democrats haven't been saying any of this with the exception of maybe Henry Waxman. With up to 87% of Americans on the progressive side, we could make the Republicans look like a bunch a rabid right-wing bullies. But as usual we are playing it safe. We shpould be morally outraged and vocal. Any one else upset by this?
