I dont know how many times Ive heard people say that these social programs are designed to help the poor. I totally disagree. Social programs are just more corporate welfare.
If corporations paid living wages there would be no need for these programs. They benefit and allow the WalMarts of the country to pay embarassingly low wages to its employees . Did you know WalMart teaches its new employees to sign up for food stamps ? Whos really benefitting here? The people are busting their arses for 40 hours a week. They work hard and they get like 5 bucks an hour. Thats criminal imo.. Meanwhile the corporations are reaping humongous profit by keeping wages artificially low and getting subsidized by our tax dollars in the form of these social programs.
For too long this has been labeled as help for the poor, when its really just another corporate subsidy.
And another thing. I wish we had a spell checker here on DK. :)
