Now that the 2006 Pennsylvania U.S. Senate field appears to be set--Robert Casey Jr. and me--I wanted to share with you my excitement and a few thoughts on how I see this race shaping up.
As a reform-minded Democrat deeply concerned about the future of our party, the security of our nation, and peace of our globe, I am uniquely positioned to speak out and advocate on behalf of the progressive majority--the forgotten majority--of Pennsylvanians and Americans.
Update [2005-3-4 18:51:16 by Chuck Pennacchio for US Senate]:
Thanks everyone! I have to head out to a house party being hosted in my honor tonight. This is just the second piece of an ongoing conversation I hope to have with you over the course of the campaign.
Remember, we can do this everyday over at our campaign blog. Create a user name and let's keep talking. -- Chuck
Given my experiences working for Sen. Alan Cranston and Congressman Ron Dellums; my training and teaching in history, diplomacy, and national security; my successful grassroots organizing on electoral and issue campaigns over the last 32 years; and my abiding commitment to social justice principles that distinguish me from Bob Casey Jr. and Rick Santorum, I am ready to win this Senate seat and serve with distinction.
As many of you know by now, our grassroots and netroots outreach programs have been underway since Election Day 2004. As well, our campaign approach is central to our message.
We have tremendous opportunities, during the primary season and the general election, to restore the ideals of the Democratic Party, to reclaim our core values of patriotism and compassion that Santorum and company have stolen and mangled, and to lead our Commonwealth and country back to greatness.
As I write this message to you we are inundated with well-wishing phone calls, emails, letters, and visitors. My team and I appreciate all that you have done so far, and I sincerely hope that we can count on your continued support.
If you have any questions that I wasn't able to get to last time, or anything else you want to comment on or ask, I will in this diary for about an hour and will check back in later on tonight.
Best,
Chuck Pennacchio
